Therapy isn’t about pushing you into pain. It’s about creating enough safety that your system chooses to open. Trauma work requires

• A slow pace

• A grounded, attuned relationship

• Permission to pause

• Compassion for every part of your story

Feeling and trusting a safe connection is vital. Once established, we move into the other parts. Not just how were you affected by the trauma, but what part of your self was lost, displaced, hidden? What meaning have you made of you experience and is that still serving you? What emotions were you NOT allowed to feel? Let's feel those. Let's notice those parts, let's gently ask them out of the shadows.

Feeling"ready” to come to counselling with a background of trauma is a very personal choice. You just have to be willing to take one gentle step at a time.
